Ghanaian actor and comedian Koo Fori, legally known as Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, has entered a not guilty plea in response to allegations of defrauding a Ghanaian resident in the United States of $50,000.
He appeared before the Dansoman Circuit Court on Monday, May 12, just days after being apprehended by the Accra Central Police on Friday, May 9.
Koo Fori faces a charge of defrauding under false pretences and was granted bail set at ₵320,000, with three sureties required.
Investigators allege that the “Efiewura” star received the money from a California-based Ghanaian, claiming it was for a legitimate investment venture. However, he is said to have failed to deliver on the promise and subsequently disappeared from contact.
The unnamed victim filed a complaint with the police after repeated, unsuccessful efforts to recover the funds. Investigations also uncovered that Koo Fori disregarded a summons to appear in court on April 17, 2025, which led to a bench warrant being issued for his arrest.
