A 21-year-old final-year student of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Daniel Tuffuor, has been remanded in police custody over the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Joana Deladem Yabani, also a final-year student at the university.

Tuffuor was arrested on Thursday, February 27, 2025, after Joana’s lifeless body was discovered on campus earlier that morning. University security immediately alerted the police, leading to his apprehension.

Authorities suspect the two were in a romantic relationship at the time of the tragic incident. Tuffuor was arraigned before the Prempeh District Court, where prosecutors sought his remand for further investigations. The court granted the request, and he is expected to reappear on March 17, 2025.

Meanwhile, police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding Joana’s death, working to uncover what led to the shocking crime.
