Suspect Awaits Attorney-General’s Advice as Investigations Continue

The suspect in the alleged murder of Joana Yabane, a final-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been remanded in prison following his second court appearance.

The court, in its latest hearing, adjourned the case to April 1, 2025, as investigations continue. Officials confirmed that the docket has been submitted to the Attorney-General’s office for further legal advice.

Joana Yabane was found unresponsive behind the Central Laboratory on KNUST’s campus in the early hours of the morning. A crime scene investigation led to the arrest of Daniel Tuffour, who is now the prime suspect in her death.

Tuffour first appeared in court on February 28, 2025, and was remanded for two weeks. During today’s session, the court extended his remand, emphasizing the need for further legal review before proceeding.

The tragic incident has deeply affected the KNUST community, with students and faculty following the case closely. Authorities have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring justice for Joana Yabane and her family.

As the legal process unfolds, the public awaits the Attorney-General’s guidance on the next steps in this high-profile case.
