Kennedy Agyapong Eyes 2028 NPP Flagbearer Slot — Brother Confirms Comeback Bid

After a strong showing in 2024, Kennedy Agyapong eyes a return to lead the NPP in 2028

Kennedy Agyapong, a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former presidential hopeful, is set to vie for the party’s flagbearer position in the lead-up to the 2028 general elections.

This revelation came from his brother, Ralph Agyapong, during an interview with Kings Jersey TV in the United States on March 15, 2025. Ralph shared that shifting dynamics within the NPP now favor Kennedy Agyapong’s candidacy, giving him a stronger footing for the primaries.

“I can tell you on authority that he will contest the presidency or the NPP primaries, hopefully, next year, because we might have an early congress. He will be on the ballot paper,” Ralph confirmed.

Kennedy Agyapong’s impressive showing in the 2024 NPP presidential primaries, where he secured 14.30% of the vote and placed second behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, demonstrated his solid support base.

According to Ralph, the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections has led many members to reconsider their allegiance, bolstering Kennedy Agyapong’s prospects for the 2028 race.

As the NPP gears up for a competitive primary, all eyes are on Kennedy Agyapong, whose early declaration signals a determined comeback for the party’s leadership.
