IMANI Africa’s Founding President, Franklin Cudjoe, has urged former President John Mahama to resist partisan pressure to remove Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

In a Facebook post, Cudjoe emphasized that Dr. Dampare has upheld professionalism, reformed policing, and strengthened national security despite internal and external challenges.

He warned against dismissing a competent officer without valid grounds, stating, “We must insist on professionalism instead of extreme partisanship. There are few good men. Keep them when you find them.”

IMANI Africa’s Vice President, Kofi Bentil, echoed similar sentiments, cautioning Mahama against repeating political blunders, such as the dismissal of former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo.

He stressed that the IGP deserves to remain in office, urging Mahama to respect due process and await the Supreme Court’s ruling.

Dr. Dampare still has five years before reaching the mandatory retirement age, raising concerns about potential political maneuvering.
