- The case has severely impacted the family
The family of a ten-year-old boy murdered in Kasoa has expressed relief following the court’s ruling.
In an interview post-verdict, relative Harrison Mensah shared that the sentences given to the accused should deter others from committing similar crimes.
“The family feels a sense of closure despite our loss. This verdict should warn anyone thinking about breaking the law. Waiting for judgment was a challenging ordeal,” he remarked.
He highlighted the personal toll the case took on their family, noting that his brother lost his job and is now facing debts exceeding GH₵180,000. “Now that we have a verdict, we can regroup and figure out how to manage the debt,” he said.
On October 24, 2024, a jury unanimously found two teenagers guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and the murder itself in connection with the boy’s tragic death in 2021.
Sentencing for the 15-year-old will be handled by a juvenile court as per the Juvenile Justice Act.
