Joseph Boahen Aidoo, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), has officially resigned, effective January 7, 2025.

His decision aligns with a directive issued on January 13, 2025, terminating all board memberships of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).

In a letter to President John Dramani Mahama on January 16, Mr. Aidoo explained that his resignation aims to ensure a smooth leadership transition, facilitating timely collaboration between stakeholders and incoming executives.

This move comes despite his renewed mandate initially set to expire in July 2025.

Expressing gratitude for his eight years of service under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Mr. Aidoo reaffirmed his dedication to Ghana’s cocoa sector and his commitment to supporting the transition.

“I hereby tender my resignation as Chief Executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board, effective January 7, 2025,” his letter concluded.
