John Dumelo, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has weighed in on the ongoing debate about MPs using sirens on their vehicles.
Dumelo stated his personal opposition to the practice.
While acknowledging that sirens might be helpful for navigating traffic, Dumelo believes they are not essential for his role as an MP.
“I saw comments from A Plus [colleague MP Kwame Obeng Asare] who seems to think sirens are necessary,” Dumelo said in the video. “But personally, I don’t think I need one.”
Dumelo’s stance adds to the ongoing debate about the use of sirens by MPs in Ghana.
Proponents argue that sirens improve efficiency, allowing MPs to fulfill their duties more effectively. Opponents, like Dumelo, see them as unnecessary and potentially disruptive.
