Jinapor: New Gas Processing Plant to Strengthen Ghana’s Power Supply
New facility to boost power supply and tackle recurring shortages

- Government greenlights the construction of a second gas processing plant
- The plant will help stabilize power supply and reduce shortages
- New facility to complement existing gas supply for electricity generation
The government has approved plans to build a second gas processing plant to address Ghana’s persistent energy shortfalls, Energy Minister John Jinapor has announced.
Speaking at the Jubilee House on Friday, March 7, Mr. Jinapor highlighted the urgency of enhancing energy security and ensuring a stable power supply.
He revealed that Cabinet, in collaboration with the Finance Ministry, has endorsed several strategic measures, including the immediate construction of the new facility to bridge supply gaps and reinforce the country’s power infrastructure.
Ghana has long grappled with power supply challenges due to rising demand and limited gas processing capacity. The upcoming plant is expected to complement existing infrastructure and improve the reliability of natural gas for electricity generation.
