Jamal Musiala’s stunning strike secured Bayern Munich a 1-0 victory over St. Pauli, extending their lead to six points at the top of the Bundesliga.
The German international made his mark in the 22nd minute, winning the ball 30 yards from goal, taking a touch, and firing an unstoppable shot off the crossbar.
England captain Harry Kane had a subdued performance, notably missing a chance when he blasted a shot over the bar after receiving a cutback from Serge Gnabry.
Leon Goretzka also had a close attempt from inside the box, while St. Pauli goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj made a crucial save, diving to deflect a Leroy Sane effort that seemed destined for the bottom corner.
In the closing minutes, Musiala had another opportunity to extend Bayern’s lead but saw his shot blocked.
RB Leipzig could narrow the gap to three points if they secure a win against Borussia Monchengladbach later on Saturday at 17:30 GMT.
