Give Us Immediate and Long-Term Solutions to ‘Dumsor’ – Collins Adomako to Energy Minister
MP Urges Concrete Actions Amidst Worsening Power Crisis in Ashanti Region

Collins Adomako-Mensah, the Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, has challenged John Abdulai Jinapor, the Energy Minister, to provide workable solutions to Kumasi’s ongoing power outages.
During the discussion of the 2025 budget statement in Parliament on Wednesday, March 19, Mr. Adomako expressed his displeasure with the Minister’s failure to present concrete solutions to the worsening power crisis in the Ashanti Region.
He stressed that households and businesses continue to suffer hardships and that mere speeches will not resolve the issue.
Mr. Adomako pointed out that the Energy Minister himself had acknowledged the severity of the local power situation.
“During his visit, the Minister (Energy Minister) personally complained about the power situation in the Ashanti Region.
“So, I was expecting that when the Energy Minister took the floor to debate, he would sympathize with business owners struggling with rising operational costs and offer concrete solutions to resolve the problem—but he failed,” he stated.
His remarks underscored the frustration of many residents and business owners who have endured prolonged and unpredictable power outages, commonly referred to as “dumsor.”
The MP emphasized that Kumasi, a major economic hub, cannot afford to operate under such unstable power conditions.
He urged the Energy Minister to prioritize the needs of the people by ensuring a stable power supply through both immediate and long-term measures.
Additionally, he questioned why the government has failed to implement effective solutions to permanently address the crisis despite multiple assurances.
