Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has put to rest circulating rumors about the health of Ghana’s Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, confidently assuring the public that she is in good health and will soon return to her duties.
After seeking medical treatment abroad, following an initial diagnosis at the University of Ghana Medical Centre for a sudden illness on March 28, 2025, speculations emerged about the Vice President’s condition, even suggesting her passing.
However, speaking to Ghanaians in Lagos, Nigeria on April 6, Ablakwa confirmed that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is recovering well, attributing her progress to the collective prayers of Ghanaians worldwide.
“I have heard from her, so I know what I am talking about, and she’s doing well,” he stated, encouraging the public to disregard what he described as “vicious and unGhanaian evil propaganda.” He expressed his belief in her resilience, emphasizing that she will continue to inspire women and girls across the nation.
Ablakwa reiterated his confidence in her leadership, urging that her return will be a proud moment for all Ghanaians, particularly young women, showing them that there is no limit to what women can achieve.
