MTN Ghana CEO, Stephen Blewett, has shared a shocking personal encounter with mobile money fraudsters, highlighting the escalating scam issue in the country.

In a candid reflection on his first anniversary as CEO, Blewett recounted how, during his first month at the company, a fraudster targeted him with a fake claim of a mobile money transfer.

The scammer attempted to convince him of the transaction, but Blewett cleverly kept the caller on the line for about 15 minutes, hoping to prevent them from deceiving others.

When Blewett revealed his position as CEO, the scammer was skeptical and hung up angrily, but the encounter served as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance against such fraud.

Blewett reassured MTN customers, stressing the company’s dedication to tackling mobile money scams. “We’re constantly evaluating how we can enhance our services. Our customer-first approach drives us to explore innovative solutions to protect our users from fraud,” he said.
