“I Was Never Contacted by the Committee” – Samuel Dubik Mahama on Missing ECG Containers
Former ECG MD claims he was excluded from investigation and refutes fleeing allegations.

Former Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama, has denied claims that he was approached by the committee investigating the disappearance of over 1,300 ECG containers at the Tema Port.
Expressing frustration over the handling of the case, Mahama revealed that he was never given the opportunity to present his side of the story.
His statement follows the recent arrest of 12 Chinese nationals and a Ghanaian, who were detained by National Security operatives in relation to the missing containers. The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, has been tasked with producing a detailed report on the issue.
The committee’s investigation, which included interviews with ECG directors and managers, raised suspicions of theft and possible auctioning of the containers.
However, Mahama, speaking in an interview on April 2, 2025, dismissed rumors that he had fled the country or was avoiding scrutiny.
“Since this container issue came up, I’ve received numerous calls from ECG staff, asking why I haven’t defended myself. Today, I want to make it clear that I have never left this country since my resignation as ECG MD,” Mahama said.
He continued, expressing dismay at not being contacted by the committee, saying, “I was never approached by the committee, nor did I receive any official communication from them. If they had reached out, I would have provided all the information I have. I served Ghana with dedication for over two years, and during that time, ECG saw significant growth.”
