“I Want to Thank Him Personally” – Agya Koo Nimo Seeks Meeting with President Mahama

Legendary Highlife Musician Expresses Gratitude for Presidential Recognition

Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician Agya Koo Nimo has expressed a strong desire to meet President John Dramani Mahama in person.

The legendary artist wishes to convey his gratitude for the President’s recent acknowledgment during the launch of the Black Star Experience on May 1, 2025.

During that event, President Mahama specifically instructed the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, to organize a ceremony to honor Agya Koo Nimo.

Reacting to this gesture, the musician told Kafui Dey, “Let the President know that we are very much appreciative of what he said and especially mentioning Koo Nimo.” He emphasized his thankfulness for the President recognizing his contributions to Ghanaian music.

Agya Koo Nimo revealed that despite his appreciation, he has never had the opportunity to meet President Mahama face-to-face. “I haven’t met him before, it’s challenging to meet great people. One day, he should pass by my side and if he does, the whole world would shake,” he remarked.

He looks forward to shaking the President’s hand and engaging in a conversation. He also noted his past interactions with Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who used to invite him to perform in Cape Coast.

Ultimately, Agya Koo Nimo stressed his main motivation for seeking the meeting: “I want to meet the President and thank him personally and tell him we are proud of him.”
