House of Chief Urges Ghanaians to Reject Electoral Manipulation
Chiefs Urge Ghanaians to Protect the Integrity of Elections Ahead of 2024
- Citizens are urged to avoid electoral manipulation
- Emphasis on the importance of peaceful conduct and the rule of law to ensure a stable election environment
- The Electoral Commission and related agencies must perform their duties impartially
As Ghana gears up for the 2024 general elections, the National House of Chiefs is urging all citizens to stand firm in defending democratic values and to reject any attempts at electoral manipulation, violence, or media intimidation.
In a statement released on November 1, Registrar Anthony Yeboah Tabiri emphasized the importance of free, fair, and transparent elections, reminding Ghanaians to respect the rule of law and protect the integrity of the electoral process.
This call is especially crucial given the rising concerns over electoral violence and political vigilantism.
With three decades of democratic elections and peaceful power transitions under its belt, Ghana is celebrated as a beacon of democracy in West Africa.
The House of Chiefs insists that all citizens must avoid actions that could undermine democracy, advocating instead for a collaborative effort to ensure a smooth electoral process.
They also stressed the need for the Electoral Commission and its agencies to carry out their responsibilities impartially.
