A 24-year-old man from the Assin North District in Ghana is facing criminal charges after allegedly raping and infecting a teenager with HIV.
The accused, Jeff Apraku, is accused of knowingly engaging in unprotected sex with the victim despite being aware of his HIV-positive status.
The incident occurred in September 2024, when Apraku approached the victim at her mother’s shop and persuaded her to have sex with him.
The victim reported the incident to her mother, who encouraged her to seek help from the police.
Apraku is now facing charges of rape and transmitting HIV. He has been granted bail but is required to appear in court again in November.
