Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has officially taken office as Ghana’s Vice President following a ceremonial swearing-in at the iconic Independence Square in Accra on January 7, 2025.
Administered by Chief Justice Her Ladyship Gertrude Torkornoo, the event marks a groundbreaking milestone, as Prof. Opoku-Agyemang becomes the first woman to hold this position in Ghana’s history.
Running alongside President-elect John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 elections, she contributed to a decisive victory over the NPP candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, enabling Mahama to secure his second presidential term.
