Heartbreak for Ghana and Lyon as Ernest Nuamah is Ruled Out for the Season with ACL Injury
The 20-year-old Ghanaian international limped off just minutes into Lyon’s win over Lille, with scans confirming a ruptured ACL.

- Nuamah ruled out for the rest of the season with a ruptured ACL
- Injury occurred just 7 minutes into Lyon’s 2-1 win over Lille
- Becomes fourth Ghanaian international to suffer ACL injury this season
Ghanaian winger Ernest Nuamah has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after sustaining a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
The 20-year-old Olympique Lyon star limped off just seven minutes into their Ligue 1 clash against Lille on Saturday, April 5, following a challenge from defender Gabriel Gudmundsson. Despite the early setback, Lyon managed a 2-1 victory at home.
Medical assessments confirmed a ruptured ligament, effectively sidelining Nuamah for months and ending his promising season prematurely. His injury marks a worrying trend for Ghana, as he becomes the fourth Black Stars player to suffer an ACL injury this season, joining Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Alidu Seidu, and Abdul Mumin on the sidelines.
Nuamah had been a key figure for Lyon this campaign, registering three goals and one assist in Ligue 1, and matching those stats in the UEFA Europa League across nine appearances. His absence will be a significant blow to both club and country.
