- Police and education officials have launched investigations into the incident
The Headmaster of Big Six Educational Complex in Meduma has been arrested and subsequently granted bail after allegedly barring two students from participating in the opening paper of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The incident, which unfolded on Monday, June 16, reportedly involved the headmaster confining the candidates in a locked room due to unpaid school fees and their absence from a pre-exam preparation camp. The following day, Tuesday, June 17, law enforcement intervened after the matter gained public attention.
The two students were meant to write their Mathematics paper at Simms High School, a designated exam centre in the Kwabre East Municipality, but missed the session entirely due to the alleged confinement.
The Ghana Police Service has since launched an investigation into the incident. Simultaneously, the Kwabre East Municipal Education Directorate is conducting its own inquiry to uncover the full details of what transpired.
