GFA to Investigate Nations FC – Holy Stars Chaos

Football Association Vows 'Expeditious' and 'Decisive' Action After Match Abandonment

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially launched an investigation into the chaotic events that unfolded during the Ghana Premier League match between Nations Football Club and Basake Holy Stars.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 3, the GFA announced its commitment to addressing all issues stemming from the incident “expeditiously” and “decisively.”

Nations FC, needing a win in one of their final two games to secure the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League title, abandoned their match against Basake Holy Stars in the first half while trailing 1-0.

The abandonment occurred after a second controversial penalty was awarded to Basake, leading to heated discussions on the field between Nations FC players, coaching staff, and game officials.

As investigations into this latest controversy in the Ghana League commence, the GFA has urged all parties involved to fully cooperate with the process.
