Galamsey Crisis: Declare State of Emergency Now! – Miracles To Government
Former Bawumia campaign communicator urges swift government intervention as illegal mining devastates lands and water bodies

- Dennis Miracles Aboagye demands a state of emergency to tackle illegal mining
- Galamsey continues to destroy lands and pollute water bodies
- Questions inconsistencies in current administration’s handling of the crisis
Dennis Miracles Aboagye, former Director of Communications for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 campaign team, has urged the government to declare a state of emergency to combat the growing menace of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
Speaking on Point Blank on Eyewitness News (Citi FM) on Monday, March 10, Aboagye expressed concerns over the continued destruction of lands and water bodies due to galamsey. He criticized the government’s handling of the issue, pointing out inconsistencies in policy enforcement.
“We want the NDC to declare a state of emergency because galamsey has escalated. That is what they professed two months ago to us. We burnt excavators, arrested illegal miners, and jailed them, yet today the president says that approach was wrong, but he is doing the same thing now,” he stated.
Aboagye further questioned the government’s stance, recalling past promises to release arrested illegal miners and contrasting them with current actions against galamsey operators.
