GACL Halts McDan Aviation Operations Again Over $3M Debt Default
Mounting arrears and operational breaches force Ghana Airports Company Limited to close McDan Aviation’s private jet terminal at Kotoka International Airport
- McDan Aviation owes over $3 million in land leases, rentals, and terminal charges
- This is the second closure after a 2022 suspension for operational breaches
- GACL has taken strict measures to enforce compliance and recover debts
The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has shut down McDan Aviation’s private jet terminal at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) due to an unpaid debt exceeding $3 million.
The arrears, comprising land leases, rentals, and terminal charges, remained unsettled despite a Christmas deadline for payment.
This marks the second shutdown of McDan Aviation after a 2022 suspension over operational breaches.
The company was previously barred from using Terminal 1 following its failure to meet GACL’s terms for private jet operations.
Despite launching its services with much fanfare in 2022, McDan Aviation’s operational issues and debt obligations have continued to disrupt its activities, culminating in the latest closure.
