A 35-year-old forex trader, Benjamin Appiah Boateng, has been remanded into police custody by the Accra Circuit Court.

Boateng is accused of defrauding two individuals, Mr. Berry Kwadwo Agyapong and Mr. David Burke, of USD300,000 and GHC10,445,000 respectively.

Boateng allegedly promised to invest the funds in UDST and Binance cryptocurrency platforms, but instead misappropriated the money.

The court heard that Boateng initially assured the complainants of significant returns on their investments. However, when they requested to withdraw their funds, Boateng became unresponsive.

He subsequently sent a WhatsApp voice note claiming to have gambled away their entire investment on an online gambling platform.

Boateng has been charged with stealing and fraud. The case has been adjourned to January 13, 2025.
