Fire Officers Probe Deadly Gyinyase Blaze That Killed Nurse and Her Three Children

The Ashanti Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service has launched an investigation into a devastating fire outbreak at Gyinyase, near Atonsu in the Asokwa Municipality, which claimed the lives of a mother and her three children.

The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, February 8, 2025, engulfing a three-bedroom house. The victims, identified as Linda Kusi, a nurse at Kumasi South Government Hospital, and her three children, aged between 7 and 14, were trapped inside their room as the fire rapidly spread.

Despite desperate rescue attempts by neighbors, the intensity of the flames prevented access to the victims. Firefighters arrived at the scene after being alerted and managed to put out the fire, but the victims were found burnt beyond recognition.

Other occupants of the house were successfully rescued and are currently receiving treatment at Kumasi South Hospital. The police have transported the remains of the deceased to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for preservation. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
