Feed Ghana Initiative Poised to Outshine PFJ – Minister Eric Opoku
New initiative promises a more sustainable and impactful approach than PFJ

- Feed Ghana focuses on long-term food security and self-sufficiency
- Existing frameworks from PFJ will be used for a seamless transition
- The initiative aims to boost local production and stabilize food prices
Ghana’s agricultural landscape is set for a major transformation with the government’s Feed Ghana Project, which is being touted as a more effective alternative to the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) initiative.
According to Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, the new programme is designed to provide long-term solutions to food security, cut down on import dependency, and stabilise food prices.
Speaking ahead of the programme’s national launch on April 11, Hon. Opoku acknowledged the contributions of PFJ but emphasised that Feed Ghana is a more comprehensive and sustainable approach.
He assured that the government would leverage existing structures from PFJ to ensure a seamless transition.
“The originators of PFJ themselves called for a review, and we believe that Feed Ghana is the most suitable programme to fulfill this mandate,” Opoku stated.
