Daniel Dziwornu, a 34-year-old farmer, has been sentenced to three years in prison after admitting to an inappropriate relationship with his 21-year-old biological sister that took place between 2020 and 2024.

Dziwornu explained that alcohol played a role in his actions, but the court found this explanation insufficient and accepted his guilty plea.

Chief Inspector Charles Aziati, who prosecuted the case at Hohoe Circuit Court, described the situation as deeply concerning and urged the court to impose a firm sentence to discourage similar incidents.

The victim, who has been unemployed, lived with her brother after their mother passed away when she was young. Over the years, their relationship became complicated, leading to serious consequences including three terminated pregnancies.

In early 2025, the victim moved to live with her boyfriend, bringing along her young daughter. Unfortunately, the brother later took the child without permission.

With the support of a neighbor, the victim reported the situation to the police, resulting in Dziwornu’s arrest in May 2025. During the investigation, he admitted to the relationship.
