Three people are hospitalized after violent clashes erupted between two Muslim youth groups during an Eid-ul-Fitr street carnival in Kasoa, Central Region.

The altercation, which took place on Monday evening, left the victims seriously injured, and they are currently receiving treatment at the Kasoa Polyclinic.

Eyewitnesses revealed that tensions between the groups had been brewing for some time, with disputes dating back to before Ramadan.

Mohamed Osman, a local resident, said that rumors of potential violence surfaced three days prior to the event, prompting elders to intervene and advise both sides to remain calm.

Despite the elders’ efforts, one group defied the warnings, leading to the violent outburst. Following the incident, one individual was arrested in connection with the altercation.

The police also seized a hammer and other weapons from him during his arrest, and he is currently being held at the Kasoa Central Business District Police station.
