The Minority Leader, Cassiel Ato Forson, has denounced his recent prosecution, describing it as a deliberate and baseless strategy to intimidate him and stifle his criticism of the government.

Ato Forson, an outspoken opponent of the administration’s economic policies, labeled the charges against him concerning an ambulance procurement deal as politically motivated and designed to serve partisan interests.

He accused Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame of spearheading a campaign of “malicious prosecution,” allegedly aimed at tarnishing his reputation and undermining his role as a prominent opposition figure.

Addressing Parliament on Monday, January 6, Ato Forson argued that the charges were timed to coincide with heated debates over the controversial e-levy policy, suggesting his vocal opposition made him a prime target for political retaliation.

“My recent prosecution better described as persecution on frivolous and trumped-up charges was calculated to silence me and extinguish a dissenting voice,” he stated.

“The timing, amid the e-levy debates, is no coincidence. It’s a clear attempt by the regime to weaponize the justice system against me for exposing the mismanagement of the economy.”
