Hon. Patricia Appiagyei, the current Member of Parliament for Asokwa and Deputy Majority Leader, has urged persons with disabilities (PWDs) to vote for Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming elections to ensure the continuation of support for their welfare.

She emphasized that the NPP government has consistently prioritized the needs of PWDs and would continue to do so under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership.

Speaking during the World Disability Day celebration, where funds and items were distributed to PWDs in Asokwa, Madam Appiagyei assured the attendees that if Dr. Bawumia becomes president in 2025, more resources, including training programs, would be dedicated to the empowerment of PWDs.

“As you head to the polls on Saturday, remember that the NPP has always had your best interests at heart. Vote for Dr. Bawumia and Mama Pat in the Presidential and Parliamentary elections,” she urged.

Municipal Chief Executive: Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokwa, reiterated the strong relationship between the PWDs and the Assembly. He highlighted that this bond has enabled the Municipal Assembly to provide training and support to PWDs in the area.

The MCE also commended the government for its continued support through regular disbursements, which have eased the challenges faced by PWDs. “I encourage you to remember the long-standing relationship with the Asokwa Municipal Assembly, and the support provided since 2018. Vote for the NPP so that even more of your colleagues, who have yet to benefit, can receive the same assistance,” he urged.

Social Welfare Director: Mr. Dickson Frimpong, the Asokwa Municipal Director of Social Welfare and Community Development, expressed gratitude to the government for its ongoing support to PWDs in the region.

He highlighted that the provision of start-up equipment, funds for education, and medical care had greatly benefited the PWD community.

Since Asokwa became a Municipality in 2018, Mr. Frimpong noted that about 500 PWDs have been identified in the area, with approximately 300 of them receiving various forms of support. “Asokwa is grateful to our MCE, MP, and all those who have contributed to taking PWDs off the streets and equipping them to become productive members of society,” he concluded.
