A devastating fire has displaced numerous residents of Nima-Moke, a slum within the Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti Region.
The blaze, which broke out around 4:30 pm on Friday, ravaged more than 50 wooden makeshift homes, leaving many families without shelter.
The fire spread rapidly, fueled by the abundance of combustible materials in the area, which is home to migrants from Northern Ghana seeking better opportunities in the south.
Many residents were away at the market or at work when the fire began, preventing them from rescuing their belongings.
As a result, several families, including children, have been left homeless and uncertain about where to seek refuge.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire originated in one of the structures and spread quickly, partly due to delays in the response from the Ghana National Fire Service.
This is not the first such disaster for Nima-Moke. A similar fire in 2020 also displaced many residents, destroying their homes and belongings.
