- Frank Yeboah backs nurses protesting government revocation of appointments.
- He urges the government to focus on supporting healthcare professionals
- Criticizes government’s decision to challenge 15,000 newly recruited nurses
Hon. Frank Yeboah, the Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabigya North, has voiced unwavering support for the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) as they prepare to strike over the government’s recent directive to revoke appointments of newly recruited nurses.
This decision affects those who began their roles after the December 7, 2024, elections, with 15,000 nurses currently under scrutiny.
Appearing on Ghana Se Sen with Kwame Tanko, Hon. Yeboah stressed that the affected nurses are professionals whose appointments should not be politicized. He emphasized that the focus should be on empowering these healthcare workers to provide quality care, not dismantling their positions.
“These are not political appointments. We must not play politics with the healthcare system,” he stated.
Yeboah also recalled President Mahama’s commitment in 2017 to avoid firing workers, pointing out the inconsistency in the current government’s stance.
“You can’t dismiss professionals who are dedicated to serving the public. You never know who might take care of you when you’re sick,” he argued.
As a steadfast advocate for his constituents, including the affected nurses, Hon. Yeboah declared that the Minority in Parliament will stand with the nurses, and he fully supports their right to strike and protest.
