David Moyes is reportedly in discussions with Everton over a possible return to Goodison Park after the recent sacking of Sean Dyche.
Although a deal is yet to be finalized and Moyes is not the only candidate, BBC Sport has learned from reliable sources that the former Everton manager is currently the front-runner for the job. Contract negotiations are expected to continue on Friday.
Dyche was dismissed on Thursday with the club sitting 16th in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone.
The club has secured only three wins from 19 league matches this season.
Moyes, who managed Everton from 2002 to 2013, is a familiar face at the club, having spent 11 years at the helm before moving on to Manchester United, where he was sacked after just 10 months.
He then had two separate spells at West Ham, where he guided the club to the 2023 Europa Conference League title. Moyes has been without a managerial role since leaving West Ham at the end of last season.
