The Electoral Commission (EC) begins the nationwide distribution of ballot papers today, Thursday, November 14, ahead of the December 7 elections.
In a letter to political party General Secretaries on November 13, the EC outlined the distribution schedule.
The process kicks off in the Greater Accra Region, followed by the Central, Western, Savannah, and Upper West Regions on Friday, November 15. On Saturday, November 16, the Ashanti, Ahafo, and Western North Regions will receive their ballot papers.
This marks a key milestone in the EC’s preparations for the elections, which also include finalizing voter registration, setting up polling stations, and training election officers.
The ballots will be securely stored in police facilities in each region until election day, where they will be distributed in the presence of party representatives to ensure transparency.
The EC has emphasized the implementation of strict security measures to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process, preventing any tampering or unauthorized access.
