Victims, aged 6 and 7, disclose abuse after falling ill.

A 50-year-old choreography teacher, Eric Adu Amissah, has been sentenced to six years in prison for the sexual abuse of seven young girls, all between the ages of six and seven.

The Twifo Hemang District Court, presided over by Mr. Maxwell Ofori Kpodo, delivered the sentence after Amissah pleaded guilty to seven counts of indecent assault.

Amissah, who ran a cultural dance school in Twifo Heman, Heman Lower Denkyira District, abused his position of trust to prey on his vulnerable pupils.

Chief Inspector Joseph Kussah, the prosecutor, revealed that Amissah used manipulative tactics, enticing the children with soft drinks and toffees before carrying out the assaults. He further used lubricant to facilitate the abuse.

The horrifying acts came to light when the girls began falling ill, prompting their parents to seek medical attention.

During examination, the children disclosed the abuse they had suffered at the hands of Amissah.

Adding to the severity of the case, Amissah had previously jumped bail for six months during the initial investigation.

He was eventually apprehended in Adenta, Greater Accra Region, through the diligent efforts of the Central North Regional Police Cyber Unit.

On March 5, 2025, Amissah appeared before the Twifo Hemang District Magistrate’s Court, where he confessed to all charges.

The court, acknowledging the gravity of his crimes, convicted him based on his own guilty plea.
