President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated a Constitutional Review Committee to drive forward the implementation of constitutional reforms, honoring his commitment to enhance democratic governance.
The committee is chaired by Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh, with notable members including former Electoral Commission Chairperson Charlotte Osei.
A statement from the Acting Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, dated January 19, outlined the committee’s mandate.
Their tasks include identifying gaps in previous constitutional review processes, particularly those conducted by the 2010 Constitution Review Commission and the 2023 Constitution Review Consultative Committee.
Additionally, the committee will engage stakeholders to gather input on proposed amendments to the 1992 Constitution and submit actionable recommendations within five months for government consideration.
“The committee’s composition reflects the President’s commitment to entrust this critical task to individuals with proven expertise, dedication to national service, and a strong commitment to good governance,” the statement noted.
