John Oti Bless, the Member of Parliament for Nkwanta North, has accused Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin of orchestrating chaos during the vetting process by instructing Minority members on the Appointments Committee to disrupt proceedings.

The tensions between Minority and Majority members peaked during the vetting of Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, culminating in heated exchanges. The Minority demanded the session be rescheduled to Friday, January 31, while the Majority insisted on continuing as scheduled.

The standoff escalated into physical altercations, with members dismantling tables and microphones in an attempt to stall the process. During his testimony to the investigative committee on Friday, February 7, Oti Bless alleged that Annoh-Dompreh, the Minority Chief Whip, directed the chaotic actions under the orders of Afenyo-Markin.

“Before the chaos began, Dr. Afriyie approached the Minority Leader to have Akandoh vetted, but the Minority ignored him. The Minority Chief Whip also requested Akandoh’s vetting, but the Minority Leader refused and stated, ‘whatever would happen should happen.’ I saw it all,” Oti Bless stated.

He further asserted, “A leader who stands by while subordinates vandalize state property without intervening is as culpable as those causing the damage. From my observations, the Minority Leader instigated his members to misbehave.”
