The Appointments Committee has extended an apology to Ghanaians following the chaotic disruptions that marred Thursday evening’s vetting session.
The session, meant to assess nominees Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, turned disorderly as the Minority and Majority Caucuses clashed. Tensions erupted when the Minority called for a rescheduling to Friday, citing concerns over the proceedings.
The Majority, however, rejected the proposal, insisting the vetting continue as planned.
The disagreement spiraled out of control, with Minority members breaking tables and microphones in protest, forcing heightened security measures in the conference room. Despite the turmoil, the Majority held their ground, maintaining that the process adhered to the established schedule.
In their statement, the committee expressed regret over the incident, assuring Ghanaians that steps would be taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future and to uphold the integrity of the vetting process.
