Kennedy Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, is calling on the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to offer amnesty to Alan Kyerematen and Paul Afoko as a step toward healing internal divisions and achieving lasting unity.

During the NPP’s nationwide “Thank You” tour at the Takoradi Technical University Auditorium, Agyapong stressed that reconciliation is essential for the party’s success in future elections.

He urged party executives to forgive and reintegrate key figures who have been sidelined, specifically citing Alan Kyerematen and Paul Afoko.

Alan Kyerematen, once a prominent NPP figure and former Minister of Trade, broke away after the party’s presidential primaries to launch the Movement for Change, aiming to contest the 2024 election as an independent. Meanwhile, Paul Afoko, who once served as NPP Chairman, was indefinitely suspended in 2015 over claims of working against then-candidate Nana Akufo-Addo’s electoral chances.

Agyapong appealed for an end to factionalism and public endorsements within the party, noting that reorganization and unity were crucial to the NPP’s past victories.

He emphasized that bringing back suspended members would not only show goodwill but could also strengthen the party’s voter base through their allies and supporters.
