Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has taken decisive action following the chaos that erupted during the vetting process on Thursday, January 30.

He has set up a seven-member committee, chaired by Ho West MP Emmanuel Bedzrah, to investigate the incident and enforce accountability.

In a statement on the parliamentary floor on Friday, January 31, 2025, Bagbin declared that members found guilty would face strict disciplinary measures, including bearing the cost of repairs through salary deductions if necessary.

As a preliminary measure, Bagbin announced a two-week suspension for four Members of Parliament: Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Alhassan Tampuli, and Jerry Ahmed Shaib.

The chaos erupted during the Appointments Committee’s vetting process, with Minority and Majority members clashing over scheduling.

Opposition lawmakers argued for the vetting of Health Minister-designate Kwabena Akandoh and Foreign Affairs Minister-designate Okudzeto Ablakwa to be postponed to Friday, January 31, triggering the heated altercation.
