Former traditional priestess turned evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Circuit Court in Accra.
The conviction comes after she was found guilty of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence.
In a 2022 televised broadcast, Nana Agradaa falsely claimed to have spiritual powers to double money, deceiving several victims into handing over large sums with the promise of supernatural financial returns that never materialized.
Her sentencing represents a major victory in the crackdown on spiritual fraud and deceptive religious practices in Ghana.
Prior to the sentencing, the court mandated a pregnancy test — a standard legal procedure — which confirmed she was not pregnant, thus allowing the sentencing to proceed without delay.
