Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was injured in a knife attack at his residence in Mumbai on Thursday morning.
Police have detained a man in connection with the incident, which occurred during a scuffle with an unidentified intruder.
According to initial reports, the attack may have been motivated by robbery.
Khan, who sustained injuries including a wound to the back of his neck, underwent surgery and is now recovering.
Police are investigating the incident and have seized CCTV footage from the actor’s residence in the upscale Bandra neighborhood.
A statement given by a nurse employed by the Khans provides further details. The nurse described encountering the intruder late at night, who threatened her and demanded a large sum of money. A scuffle ensued, during which the intruder attacked Khan.
Dr. Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital, where Khan is being treated, confirmed that the actor is “better now” following surgery to remove a knife fragment embedded in his spine.
