U.S. President Joe Biden has unveiled a distinguished Presidential Delegation to represent the United States at the inauguration of Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, on January 7, 2025, in Accra.

Leading the delegation is Shalanda D. Young, Director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, alongside key members:

  • Virginia E. Palmer, U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, recognized for strengthening U.S.-Ghana relations.
  • Karen Bass, Mayor of Los Angeles, noted for her advocacy on U.S.-Africa relations.
  • Frances Z. Brown, Senior Director for African Affairs at the White House National Security Council, highlighting the administration’s commitment to African partnerships.

Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s president from 2012 to 2017, secured a historic comeback by defeating Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in the December 2024 election.
