In a decisive move to curb examination malpractice, the Kintampo Circuit Court in the Bono East Region has sentenced four individuals to 30 days in prison each for their involvement in cheating during the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The court, presided over by Her Honour Lily Amoah Kankam on Tuesday, June 17, also imposed fines and ordered remand for others pending further investigation.
Key Cases:

Diana Tii, a teacher at Krabonso D/A School, was caught distributing photocopied materials to candidates inside the exam hall. In addition to her jail term, she was bonded for two years to exhibit good behaviour.

Sylvester, another teacher, assisted in sneaking the materials into the venue and received the same sentence.

Paul Busi, a student of Kintampo College of Health, was found with exam questions on his phone. He was fined 100 penalty units (GH₵1,200) after showing remorse.

Edmond Merrato Boi and Samuel Waabero, both from Just Love International School, were caught solving Computing questions in the dining hall. Each received a 30-day sentence with hard labour after pleading guilty.
Remanded for Further Action:

Belinda Yaa Adjeiwaa, a Techiman-based fashion designer, was found with photocopied answers to Computing Paper 2.

Haruna Mohammed, a teacher at Kintampo SHS, was caught with a mobile phone containing Social Studies questions.

Sadique Abubakar, another teacher, was found with answers to Computing Paper 1. He was granted bail of GH₵10,000 and is due in court again on July 2, 2025.
This clampdown follows a national push by the Ghana Education Service and security agencies to uphold the integrity of the BECE and deter misconduct among candidates and facilitators alike.
