The final paper for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)—Arabic (Essay & Objective)—is being written today, Wednesday, June 18, officially bringing this year’s nationwide exam exercise to a close.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the exams, commending its team and all stakeholders for their dedication despite minor logistical hurdles.

In a Tuesday, June 17 interview, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, praised the Council’s efforts in managing the examination process.

“We can confidently say we did a good job,” Mr. Kapi stated. “Our main goal was to ensure every candidate had the opportunity to write their exams, with all necessary materials provided. We achieved that.”

He noted a few challenges, including delays caused by a vehicle breakdown during the transportation of exam papers and difficulties reaching a remote location due to tough terrain. However, these issues did not disrupt the overall process.

As BECE 2025 closes, thousands of students across the nation hold onto their hopes and dreams, looking forward to the next chapter of their academic journeys.
