- The party is implementing Ocquaye Committee recommendations
Paul Kwabena Yandoh, the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed unwavering confidence in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s leadership, asserting that he will lead the party to victory in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen Show on Thursday, June 12, 2025, Yandoh emphasized that defeat is a challenging experience, but it is not insurmountable.
He highlighted that under the NPP’s governance, Ghana was on a path to progress, but the change of government has stalled that momentum.
Yandoh called on party members to be law-abiding and to listen to their leaders, stating that those who wish to speak out of turn should consider resigning from the party.
Addressing internal party matters, Yandoh urged members not to air their grievances publicly, stating, “We don’t have to wash our dirty linen outside.”
He noted that the party is implementing the recommendations of the Ocquaye Committee to strengthen its internal structures.
Looking ahead to the 2028 elections, Yandoh expressed confidence that Dr. Bawumia will have the advantage over any new candidate from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stating, “It is obvious even in the classroom you know who will be first.”
He further clarified that Dr. Bawumia was a victim of circumstance in the previous election and did not underperform.
Yandoh also pointed out that the NPP’s party structure became smaller while the government expanded, leading to the sidelining of businessmen who had supported the party.
He mentioned that even some NPP Members of Parliament had called for a reshuffle, but it was delayed until the election year.
In conclusion, Yandoh reaffirmed his support for Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, stating that the NPP is poised to reclaim its position and lead Ghana towards the progress it once experienced.
