Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reaffirmed that the primary purpose of seeking political power is to promote the prosperity and well-being of the people.

Speaking at the Presidential Election Peace Pact signing ceremony organized by the National Peace Council, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders, including security agencies and the media, in maintaining peace and stability ahead of the elections.

As the first candidate to address the gathering, Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence in Ghana’s ability to successfully hold its 9th general election, underscoring the country’s commitment to democratic principles and peaceful electoral processes.

He highlighted the shared responsibility of all parties in ensuring a credible and peaceful election, which will further strengthen Ghana’s democracy.

“I am confident that together, we leaders and our supporters will uphold the peace pact we are signing today,” Dr. Bawumia said. “I also commend the security agencies for their excellent work, and urge the media and all stakeholders to continue their efforts to ensure the preservation of peace.”

Dr. Bawumia concluded by reiterating his belief that the ultimate goal of seeking power is to use it to deliver prosperity to the people of Ghana. “I pledge my commitment to working within the rules and collaborating with all parties to ensure a peaceful election,” he affirmed.
