Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is set to meet with parents and students on November 10 to discuss his plans for the future of Ghana’s education system, particularly regarding the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
The enagagement dubbed“Protecting Free SHS, Providing Skills for Jobs – The Bawumia Plan,” aims to address concerns surrounding the Free SHS initiative and outline a comprehensive vision for the country’s educational landscape.
According to a statement from Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications, shared with Lawsonmultimedia.com, Dr. Bawumia will use the engagement to reassure parents and students about the sustainability of the Free SHS policy.
He will also reveal his broader plans to equip young Ghanaians with the knowledge and skills needed for a productive, dignified, and fulfilling life.
Part of the release stated that, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister for Education, will make a detailed presentation on behalf of Dr. Bawumia, emphasizing the NPP’s focus on expanding STEM education to better prepare students for the future.
The release further said ”SHS graduates will be assured of Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to making tertiary education accessible to every SHS graduate who desires it, and why a student’s inability to pay for university education will no longer be a hindrance.
