Ghanaian musician and broadcaster Blakk Rasta recently revealed in an interview that he had planned to leave the country if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had won the 2024 election.
In a conversation Blakk Rasta shared that he had been seeking a better alternative to continue his life and had traveled abroad in preparation for a potential departure. He explained that if the NPP had secured another term in office, he would have left Ghana for good.
“We were just looking for change, and change is here. I was so fed up. I told everyone that if these guys won the election again, I would leave this country,” Blakk Rasta said. “A month before the election, I was already out of the country. I was in Jamaica, the United States, and other places, just planning a smooth exit if they won.”
Drawing a comparison to Nigerian author Wole Soyinka, who famously vowed to destroy his American passport if Donald Trump won his first election, Blakk Rasta made it clear that he would have followed through on his promise to leave Ghana.
The musician expressed his frustration with the NPP government, stating that their leadership had led the country into difficult circumstances, and emphasized that Ghana needed a break from their administration.
