Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has extended his support to the traders devastated by the recent fire at Kantamanto Market, offering his condolences and a donation of GH¢200,000 to aid their recovery.

During his visit, Dr. Bawumia toured the damaged areas, engaging with the traders who suffered significant losses. The blaze destroyed goods and stalls, leaving many struggling financially.

Expressing sympathy, Dr. Bawumia reassured the traders of the government’s commitment to supporting their restoration efforts. “We will investigate the cause of the fire and do everything we can to rebuild the market into a fitting space. I’ve seen the recovery work in progress, and we will help with necessary supplies to get the market back on its feet,” he said.

Additionally, he proposed setting up internal security and installing CCTV cameras at the market to ensure the safety of the traders. Dr. Bawumia promised that even after leaving office, he would personally ensure the installation of the security system.

Accompanied by Greater Accra Regional Minister Daniel Nii Titus Glover and Kantamanto leaders, the Vice President offered his condolences to those affected.
